While Paris might not be the no. 1 city in everyone’s heart, no one can deny the charm she owns. Yes, I refer Paris as a ‘she’ cause everytime I think about this city, I always think about an effortlessly beautiful and classy woman holding a glass of wine in her hand and speaking only words of romance. Not to mention that I felt like one when I was there, ahem 🙂

Before visiting Paris, to be honest, I thought that she would just be an overrated city since it seems like a lot of people are worshiping her waaayyy too much… but at the same time there are also many negative stuff such as the Paris syndrome and, of course, the infamous Parisian-style scams. I kind of set generally low expectations due to these things. Somehow I’m glad I had those cause in the end Paris still got me impressed!

The building architecture… the food scene… the parks… the fashion… PARIS IS PRETTY ♥

Day #1

• Pont Neuf, Pont au Change, and Pont Notre-Dame

  Pont is the French word for bridge. These 3 bridges are located next to each other, over the river Seine. I saw a lot of couples at the bridges, sharing passionate hugs and kisses or talking intimate selfies together.

• Hôtel de Ville

  Don’t get it wrong, it’s not a hotel. It’s actually a government building that functions as mayor’s office. I secretly wish the mayor’s office in my country would someday look this stunning 😀

• Notre Dame de Paris

  Who doesn’t know? It’s the most well-known cathedral in the world — thought I should just mention it. If you’re interested to enter the church, check the details here.

• Tour Eiffel (Eiffel Tower)

  Undoubtedly the landmark of Paris. I know the place is very touristy and locals think that Eiffel is what makes Paris seem overrated sometimes… but I think you should go there at least once. It’s free anyway unless you want to go to the top of the tower. Check the details here.
  Nearest/recommended metro station(s): Bir-Hakeim.
  

  

   

• Trocadéro

  It’s an area in Paris where you can actually have a better viewing point of the Eiffel Tower itself. Beware of scammers here! There’s a lot of ’em.

• Champs-Élysées

  Champs-Élysées is a 1.9-km-long avenue that’s famous for its luxury shops, fancy cafés, and theatres. I visited Sephora when I was there, and saw that they sell gigantic bottles of perfumes that cost around 2,000€ each!
  Nearest/recommended metro station(s): Champs-Élysées – Clemenceau.

  Not only that, along this avenue and around the corner, you can also find:

Day #3

• Sacré-Cœur

  Also known as Sacré-Cœur Basilica or Basilica of The Sacred Heart of Paris, it’s a Roman Catholic church that’s located at the highest point of the city. Absolutely one of the best spots in Paris to see the city view for free! Make sure you’re in a good stamina before going there cause you’ll be taking a lot of stairs.

• Montmartre

  Montmartre is the name of the area/district where Sacré-Cœur Basilica is located. It’s basically a large hill in the north part of Paris. For me, this is the most breathtaking area throughout the city. There are tons of beautiful houses and cafés here! It kind of reminds me of Blankenese, that pretty neighbourhood in Hamburg, Germany. When in Montmartre, don’t forget to check out Rue de Steinkerque, the famous street where you can do some souvenir shopping with great deals!

• Moulin Rouge

  You might have heard Moulin Rouge the first time from the movie. This place does really exist, though! It’s a cabaret that’s been operating since 1889… that’s 100 years before I was born actually! Moulin Rouge is believed to be the pioneer of what’s called can-can dance nowadays. If you want to see the show, please make sure you make a reservation in advance!

Special Mention: Where to Eat in Paris

You cannot leave Paris without trying the French cuisine! Jamy took me to this restaurant called Domaine de Lintillac on my second night in Paris. This restaurant is located at 10 Rue Saint-Augustin. They serve traditional French food everyday for lunch (12 – 2.15PM) and dinner (7 – 10.15PM).

Jamy and I ordered confit de canard (duck confit) — which seems to be their popular dish — with sweet wine. They gave us bread and pâté for appetizer and we had chocolate mousse for dessert.

Everything was so delicious and satisfactory that I fell asleep on the bus on the way back! 😀

Paris in 3 days… is it enough?

The answer is, it depends. Depends on what you want to do, how you spend your days, and how much you’re interested in exploring the city. For me personally, as someone who’s just visiting, I feel like I’ve made the most of my time for the 3 days I was there. But of course, I wouldn’t mind visiting Paris again in the future!

Paris is that gorgeous woman you can’t just forget… 😉
